A Message From Lamar R. Hylton

Lamar R. Hylton, Ph.D. currently serves as the Senior Vice President for Student Affairs at Kent State University. In this role, he provides vision, executive leadership, oversight, and direction for over 25 units that comprise the Division of Student Affairs. Utilizing experiences drawn from his dissertation research, and as a first-generation college graduate three times over, Dr. Hylton is personally invested in giving back to the students that he serves. He works towards impacting academic achievement, college satisfaction, and student success. Dr. Hylton has the distinction of being the first Black person to serve as Vice President & Senior Vice President for Student Affairs in the history of Kent State University. Dr. Hylton joined Kent State as the Dean of Students. He has served in a variety of different roles in fraternity & sorority life, residence life, student conduct, student activities, leadership development, and multicultural affairs at a variety of public and private institutions. A native of Columbus, OH, Dr. Hylton received his bachelor’s degree in Vocal Music-Performance from Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD, his master’s degree in College Student Personnel from Ohio University in Athens, OH, and a doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Morgan State.

In Support of ACPA Foundation

Founded in 1994 during the presidency of Charles Schroeder, the purpose of the ACPA Educational Leadership Foundation (501c3 non-profit organization) is “to enhance the student affairs profession and to generate and disseminate knowledge of college students at all levels within higher education” (Article Three of the Articles of Incorporation). The organization is now known as the ACPA Foundation to more concisely communicate its role as the fundraising arm of ACPA College Student Educators International.

The Mission - The ACPA Foundation exists to support the priorities and activities of ACPA by raising funds and developing resources that help the Association fulfill its mission. 

The Vision - The ACPA Foundation will develop sufficient assets to effectively and sustainably fund ACPA’s efforts to provide excellent professional development opportunities to members, advance knowledge in the field, and support the transformative effect of education in the lives of college students.

In order to fulfill its purpose and mission, the Foundation invites members and non-members alike to provide philanthropic support for ACPA's vital initiatives involving research, scholarship, professional development and leadership program.
