A Message From Brian Bourke

Dr. Brian Bourke is a professor at Murray State University, where he teaches in the Postsecondary Education Administration master’s and the P20 and Community Leadership doctoral programs. Brian discovered student affairs through his involvement in student government and campus activities as an undergraduate at the University of South Carolina Upstate. That involvement led to graduate school at the University of South Carolina, followed by several years working in residence life, along with doctoral study at The University of Alabama. Since becoming a faculty member in 2007, Brian has helped dozens of emerging professionals find their paths into student affairs. In addition to his work with graduate students, Brian engages in a number of scholarly and professional service activities. Since moving to Murray State in 2014, Brian has served CPAK in multiple roles, including his service as a past-president. Beyond CPAK, Brian has been part of ACPA’s Commission for Student Involvement, Editor of the College Student Affairs Journal, Advisory Board Chair for the Journal of Campus Activities Practice and Scholarship, Student Affairs Assessment Leaders Advancement Committee chair, and participation in a number of other committees throughout his 20+ years in the field. When he isn’t preparing future student affairs leaders, Brian enjoys camping with his wife and 9-year old daughter, and time in his woodworking shop.

In Support of ACPA Foundation

Founded in 1994 during the presidency of Charles Schroeder, the purpose of the ACPA Educational Leadership Foundation (501c3 non-profit organization) is “to enhance the student affairs profession and to generate and disseminate knowledge of college students at all levels within higher education” (Article Three of the Articles of Incorporation). The organization is now known as the ACPA Foundation to more concisely communicate its role as the fundraising arm of ACPA College Student Educators International.

The Mission - The ACPA Foundation exists to support the priorities and activities of ACPA by raising funds and developing resources that help the Association fulfill its mission.

The Vision - The ACPA Foundation will develop sufficient assets to effectively and sustainably fund ACPA’s efforts to provide excellent professional development opportunities to members, advance knowledge in the field, and support the transformative effect of education in the lives of college students.

In order to fulfill its purpose and mission, the Foundation invites members and non-members alike to provide philanthropic support for ACPA's vital initiatives involving research, scholarship, professional development and leadership program.
