A Message From Pamela Nessle Curtis

Pam Curtis dedicated her career to the University of Louisville from 1986 until her retirement in 2020. She held various titles in Campus Housing from 1986-2008 until becoming the first director of Student Leadership and Service until 2012. In 2012 her department merged with Student Activities where she eventually became director of the Office of Student Involvement in 2018. Among Pam’s proudest accomplishments are those that were achieved because of collaboration, including creation of the ECPY Leadership class, the Engage Lead Serve Board, the student-led Alternative Service Break Board, Game Changers Retreat, and Sophomore Leadership Experience. She was part of the team that transitioned Student Activities to Student Involvement and brought OrgSync (now Engage) to campus. She also led the initiative to achieve Voter Friendly campus status for UofL. Pam’s true passion was increasing employee engagement through Strengths-based supervision. She completed both StrengthsQuest™ Facilitator and Trainer certification and offered many hours of presentations across campus. Pam’s commitment to professional development was demonstrated by her service as the inaugural chair of the Student Affairs Professional Development committee for many years. She served the regional professional organizations through conference attendance and presentations. She held the SACSA Professional Development chair for 5 years and was elected Vice President of Professional Development serving from 2013-2015. Additionally, she was elected CPAK conference chair, serving from 2016-2018 and was honored with the CPAK Fred Rhodes Outstanding Service Award in 2017. She served on the multi-institutional Dialogue on Diversity Planning team from 2017 until leaving Louisville in 2020. At the time of her retirement Pam created a gift fund at UofL to support addressing racial biases on campus. Pam is thriving in Southern California, living her simplified lifestyle in her tiny house on wheels and working for the non-profit Boys and Girls Clubs of San Dieguito as Administrative and Volunteer Coordinator. She also actively volunteers with the League of Women Voters as well as Compassion and Choices. She enjoys whale watching, bird walks, art making and listening to podcasts.

In Support of ACPA Foundation

Founded in 1994 during the presidency of Charles Schroeder, the purpose of the ACPA Educational Leadership Foundation (501c3 non-profit organization) is “to enhance the student affairs profession and to generate and disseminate knowledge of college students at all levels within higher education” (Article Three of the Articles of Incorporation). The organization is now known as the ACPA Foundation to more concisely communicate its role as the fundraising arm of ACPA College Student Educators International.

The Mission - The ACPA Foundation exists to support the priorities and activities of ACPA by raising funds and developing resources that help the Association fulfill its mission. 

The Vision - The ACPA Foundation will develop sufficient assets to effectively and sustainably fund ACPA’s efforts to provide excellent professional development opportunities to members, advance knowledge in the field, and support the transformative effect of education in the lives of college students.

In order to fulfill its purpose and mission, the Foundation invites members and non-members alike to provide philanthropic support for ACPA's vital initiatives involving research, scholarship, professional development and leadership program.
