A Message From Chris Schmidt

Chris Schmidt is passionate about developing leaders and helping people realize their full potential. Chris’s leadership knowledge comes from three decades of serving in higher education, especially in the areas of student services. Chris has served at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Ky., since 1995. Since 2000, he has been dean of students of the 2,600-student liberal arts college. As dean of students, Chris is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the Lindsey Wilson student services staff, and he also serves as the college’s chief judicial officer. In addition to judicial affairs, Chris provides leadership in residence life, student activities, career services, health services, student government, campus recreation, and public safety. He is an adviser to the college president and serves as a member of the president’s executive cabinet. Chris has also been a resident director, assistant basketball coach, head cycling coach, academic adviser, intramurals director, and student activities coordinator. He has been a part-time faculty member, and he currently teachers a course in leadership studies. A native of Staten Island, N.Y., Chris earned an associate’s degree from the State University of New York at Delhi; a bachelor of science in physical education from Western Kentucky University; a master’s degree in education from Lindsey Wilson College; and a doctorate in educational leadership from Western Kentucky University. In addition to leadership and serving others, Chris is also passionate about wellness; he is a 15x IRONMAN triathlon finisher, cycling enthusiast, and jiu-jitsu student. Chris and his wife, Rebecca, reside in Columbia, KY and have and adult son, Cole.

In Support of ACPA Foundation

Founded in 1994 during the presidency of Charles Schroeder, the purpose of the ACPA Educational Leadership Foundation (501c3 non-profit organization) is “to enhance the student affairs profession and to generate and disseminate knowledge of college students at all levels within higher education” (Article Three of the Articles of Incorporation). The organization is now known as the ACPA Foundation to more concisely communicate its role as the fundraising arm of ACPA College Student Educators International.

The Mission - The ACPA Foundation exists to support the priorities and activities of ACPA by raising funds and developing resources that help the Association fulfill its mission. 

The Vision - The ACPA Foundation will develop sufficient assets to effectively and sustainably fund ACPA’s efforts to provide excellent professional development opportunities to members, advance knowledge in the field, and support the transformative effect of education in the lives of college students.

In order to fulfill its purpose and mission, the Foundation invites members and non-members alike to provide philanthropic support for ACPA's vital initiatives involving research, scholarship, professional development and leadership program.
