A Message From Brian Kuster

Brian W. Kuster is a seasoned higher education executive with more than three decades of leadership experience at Western Kentucky University. Until his retirement in July of 2020, he served as Vice President for Enrollment and Student Experience, where he was the institution’s chief enrollment and student affairs officer and a member of the President’s Cabinet. In this role, he provided executive-level leadership for enrollment strategy, student life, and the full student journey—from recruitment through graduation—ensuring a seamless, mission-driven experience aligned with the university’s long-term strategic goals. Throughout his career, Brian demonstrated exceptional expertise in strategic planning, organizational leadership, and large-scale capital development. As Executive Director of the WKU Student Life Foundation, he oversaw more than $175 million in residential facility renovations and new construction and negotiated over $200 million in tax-exempt financings. Previously serving as Vice President for Student Affairs and Director of Housing and Residence Life, he led comprehensive divisions supporting thousands of students and hundreds of staff, while playing a central role in crisis management, campus master planning, and student success initiatives. His leadership consistently integrated fiscal stewardship, operational excellence, and student-centered innovation. Brian holds a Master of Arts in Education in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor of Science in Finance, both from Western Kentucky University. A certified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator administrator. He was an active member of national professional associations, including NASPA and ACUHO-I. He has presented internationally and published on residence hall funding strategies. Known for his collaborative leadership style and forward-thinking vision, Brian remains committed to advancing student engagement, enrollment growth, and institutional effectiveness in higher education through his work as a Board member for the WKU Student Life Foundation. Brian and his wife, Teresa, reside in Fort Myers Beach, Florida.

In Support of ACPA Foundation

Founded in 1994 during the presidency of Charles Schroeder, the purpose of the ACPA Educational Leadership Foundation (501c3 non-profit organization) is “to enhance the student affairs profession and to generate and disseminate knowledge of college students at all levels within higher education” (Article Three of the Articles of Incorporation). The organization is now known as the ACPA Foundation to more concisely communicate its role as the fundraising arm of ACPA College Student Educators International.

The Mission - The ACPA Foundation exists to support the priorities and activities of ACPA by raising funds and developing resources that help the Association fulfill its mission. 

The Vision - The ACPA Foundation will develop sufficient assets to effectively and sustainably fund ACPA’s efforts to provide excellent professional development opportunities to members, advance knowledge in the field, and support the transformative effect of education in the lives of college students.

In order to fulfill its purpose and mission, the Foundation invites members and non-members alike to provide philanthropic support for ACPA's vital initiatives involving research, scholarship, professional development and leadership program.
