A Message From Yancey Gulley

Dr. Yancey Gulley (he, him, his – pronouns) has been working in higher education for 20 years and is an assistant professor in the Higher Education Student Affairs program at Western Carolina University. Prior to faculty life, he spent 15 years as a college administrator (primarily in the two-year college settings) around the country. Dr. Gulley has a long history of advocating for social justice within the educational context through his scholarship, teaching, publications, presentations, trainings, and volunteer endeavors. He recently completed a co-edited volume Using the CAS Professional Standards: Diverse Examples of Practice. This is the first book jointly published by NASPA, ACPA, & CAS. He has undertaken research on the nature of collaboration between academic and student affairs units in the community college setting and is a fierce advocate for community colleges. As a result, he started an annual drive-in conference related to student affairs in two-year institutions. On-going research projects also include the experiences of LGBTQ community college students, experiences of White faculty at Historically Black Colleges and Universities and a book focused on the college student, from a comprehensive perspective. He also enjoys travelling with his husband, Corey, and his Frenchie, Sedgwick.

In Support of ACPA Foundation

Founded in 1994 during the presidency of Charles Schroeder, the purpose of the ACPA Educational Leadership Foundation (501c3 non-profit organization) is “to enhance the student affairs profession and to generate and disseminate knowledge of college students at all levels within higher education” (Article Three of the Articles of Incorporation). The organization is now known as the ACPA Foundation to more concisely communicate its role as the fundraising arm of ACPA College Student Educators International.

The Mission - The ACPA Foundation exists to support the priorities and activities of ACPA by raising funds and developing resources that help the Association fulfill its mission.

The Vision - The ACPA Foundation will develop sufficient assets to effectively and sustainably fund ACPA’s efforts to provide excellent professional development opportunities to members, advance knowledge in the field, and support the transformative effect of education in the lives of college students.

In order to fulfill its purpose and mission, the Foundation invites members and non-members alike to provide philanthropic support for ACPA's vital initiatives involving research, scholarship, professional development and leadership program.
