A Message From Mimi Benjamin

Mimi Benjamin is Associate Professor of Student Affairs in Higher Education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and served as a student affairs administrator for 19 years as a residence life professional, interim dean of students, and assistant to the vice president for student affairs. She received her Ph.D. in educational leadership and policy studies from Iowa State University, M.A. in English from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, M.Ed. in educational leadership from Ohio University, and B.S. in secondary education/English from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Benjamin is the co-author/co-editor of four books, including the first edition of Maybe I Should . . . : Case Studies on Ethics for Student Affairs Professionals (2009) and the forthcoming second edition; Living-Learning Communities that Work: A Research-Based Model for Design, Delivery, and Assessment (2018); and Learning Communities from Start to Finish (New Directions for Student Services, 149) (2015). She served on the editorial board for the “Research in Brief” and “On the Campus” sections of the Journal of College Student Development, on the ACPA Commission for Professional Preparation Directorate, and on ACPA’s Ethics Committee. In 2006 she received NASPA’s national Mid-Level Student Affairs Professional Award and was named an ACPA Emerging Scholar in 2010.

In Support of ACPA Foundation

Founded in 1994 during the presidency of Charles Schroeder, the purpose of the ACPA Educational Leadership Foundation (501c3 non-profit organization) is “to enhance the student affairs profession and to generate and disseminate knowledge of college students at all levels within higher education” (Article Three of the Articles of Incorporation). The organization is now known as the ACPA Foundation to more concisely communicate its role as the fundraising arm of ACPA College Student Educators International.

The Mission - The ACPA Foundation exists to support the priorities and activities of ACPA by raising funds and developing resources that help the Association fulfill its mission. 

The Vision - The ACPA Foundation will develop sufficient assets to effectively and sustainably fund ACPA’s efforts to provide excellent professional development opportunities to members, advance knowledge in the field, and support the transformative effect of education in the lives of college students.

In order to fulfill its purpose and mission, the Foundation invites members and non-members alike to provide philanthropic support for ACPA's vital initiatives involving research, scholarship, professional development and leadership program.
