A Message From Gudrun Nyunt

Gudrun Nyunt (she/her) Gudrun Nyunt, Ph.D., is an associate professor of higher education at Northern Illinois University. Gudrun, an international student from Austria, was introduced to student affairs as an undergraduate at SUNY New Paltz. She completed her Master’s at the University of Connecticut and worked for seven years as a full-time staff member at three different institutions (Miami University, University of North Florida, University of Connecticut). Gudrun also served as a resident director for Semester at Sea for the fall 2012 voyage and worked as a front desk manager at Webster University’s branch campus in Vienna, Austria. Gudrun’s doctorate in student affairs is from the University of Maryland, College Park, where she worked for the ADVANCE Program for Inclusive Excellence. Gudrun’s research centers on three, at times overlapping strands: student mobility, higher education faculty and staff experiences, and mental well-being. Gudrun has been actively involved in ACPA for over 20 years, serving on the directorate boards of the Commission for Housing and Residential Life and the Commission for Student Involvement, as chair of the Commission for the Global Dimensions of Student Development, and on the steering committee of the 100 Year Anniversary Celebration. She currently serves as ACPA’s Vice President of Membership.

In Support of ACPA Foundation

Founded in 1994 during the presidency of Charles Schroeder, the purpose of the ACPA Educational Leadership Foundation (501c3 non-profit organization) is “to enhance the student affairs profession and to generate and disseminate knowledge of college students at all levels within higher education” (Article Three of the Articles of Incorporation). The organization is now known as the ACPA Foundation to more concisely communicate its role as the fundraising arm of ACPA College Student Educators International.

The Mission - The ACPA Foundation exists to support the priorities and activities of ACPA by raising funds and developing resources that help the Association fulfill its mission.

The Vision - The ACPA Foundation will develop sufficient assets to effectively and sustainably fund ACPA’s efforts to provide excellent professional development opportunities to members, advance knowledge in the field, and support the transformative effect of education in the lives of college students.

In order to fulfill its purpose and mission, the Foundation invites members and non-members alike to provide philanthropic support for ACPA's vital initiatives involving research, scholarship, professional development and leadership program.
